THE STORY

Home is where you drop anchor!

My attraction to sailing started in my childhood. During a holiday in Balaton, somewhere in the Fonyód area, I saw a graceful, beautiful sailing ship emerging from behind the reeds. It was love at first sight! Unfortunately, as a child from the Great Plains, I didn't have the opportunity to get close to sailing. So I only stared at them on vacations, sitting on the beach, with my father's binoculars. It was a classic, heavy, black, Russian telescope. I was walking among the ships resting in the harbor, looking at them and dreaming.
From 2006, I managed to get "close to the ship", I docked in the port of Aliga for a 25-foot touring yacht. This is where I really count sailing in my life. Then the usual inland water adventure followed: around and around Lake Balaton, many times and mostly alone. Later, Croatia, Slovenia, Italy, Spain, France followed, and I even managed to sail in Norway for two weeks. In the beginning, I always bumped into someone, I went with my eyes open, I studied, I observed. We went to competitions on the Adriatic, but even that felt like a little - or maybe that's not the best word: more like a lot. It was somehow not round. I wanted to sail alone, and a lot! There came a couple of years alone in the Mediterranean, which was a wonderful time. I've crossed the ocean a few times, been to the Caribbean, the Far East, and the list goes on. And most of them alone!
It became clear to me that I had to deal with shipping... I had to find a ship suitable for land navigation, with a slightly higher level of comfort than the ships I was used to. I used to cross the ocean on a ship that didn't even have a bed... I slept on a big "genya" (windsail)! I know that life is not easy and I know that I could watch National Geographic or travel channels in peace and safety at home, but I prefer to deal with everyday life: I assemble, do DIY, sew, wash, cook, keep watch, soak, freeze, fish. , etc... I want to be here... everything is different here, but it's so round for me and I will soon reach 100,000 nautical miles!
I found Kundalini in March 2017. In April, I arrived on board with my friend Tomi with four suitcases (in three of which I packed tools) and together we saw to it that he completed the endless tasks that had already been written down. There is not a single part of the ship that we did not polish, cut, replace, or paint during the five months. I know the ship!
September 9 - We left Athens with Kundalini. The journey has begun! We reached Gibraltar through Greek, Albanian, Italian, French and Spanish waters and sailed out to the ocean. Morocco, Canary Islands, Cape Verde and across the Atlantic. First Caribbean stop Martinique, then Dominica, Saints Island, Guadeloupe, Antigua, St Barths, Saint Maarten, British and American Virgin Islands all around the Caribbean waters with memories of so many friendships, adventures, landscapes, tastes and experiences.

I feel like I've managed to build the ship I've always wanted! It feels amazing to live my dream!
